Peak Crossplay: What Works Now and What Is Planned

PEAK crossplay is planned for its console releases, but the game is currently a Steam friends-only PC game. A console player cannot join a Steam lobby today; plan the session around the platform everyone can use now, then check the official FAQ again when the console editions arrive.

What does “crossplay” mean for PEAK?

For PEAK, the useful promise is console-to-Steam play, not merely a console version with separate lobbies. The developer’s FAQ says the console editions are in development and that console players will be able to play with the existing Steam community and other console platforms. It does not give a console release date, so do not make a session plan around a date that has not been announced.

Until that release exists, “crossplay” is the wrong label for a setup where the game is still running on one PC and being viewed through streaming. That can solve an individual access problem, but it does not create a native mixed-platform PEAK lobby. Treat the platform running the game—not the screen being used to see it—as the deciding check.

What works today?

Today, PEAK works for a group that can all join through Steam. The official Steam page calls multiplayer friends-only and says the host can invite up to three other scouts through Steam. The same page lists online co-op and an offline single-player option.

Why “my friend is on Xbox and I am on Steam” is the real question

The important mixed-platform question is whether Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam can meet in the same native lobby—not whether a game generally says “console support.” Players have repeatedly separated that practical need from cross-progression or an unspecified future port. That distinction matters because a game can have a console version yet still leave a Steam-and-console group apart.

Ask the group to name the exact pairing before anyone pays: Steam plus Xbox, Steam plus PlayStation, or two people on the same Steam platform. If the answer is not “everyone has Steam today,” PEAK is a wait-or-switch choice at the moment rather than a confirmed crossplay night.

How should a PC group set up the lobby?

Make the lobby private before sending the first invite if the group does not want strangers arriving through Steam profiles. The developer recommends Invite Only for everyone in the lobby plus private Steam profiles, then a re-host. That sequence is more reliable than changing one setting after the lobby is already active.

If a connection problem persists after the routine Steam maintenance window, use the official support path rather than treating it as a crossplay failure. The FAQ recommends checking firewall or antivirus exclusions, restarting, and verifying game-file integrity in Steam. Those steps address a PC session problem; they do not make an unavailable console version joinable.

The short answer for tonight

Play PEAK tonight only when every player can join the same Steam friends-only group; otherwise choose another game for this session and revisit PEAK when the console release is official. The planned cross-platform support is promising, but the honest group plan is based on what each person can join now.
